One of my favorite aspects of Thanksgiving is setting the table. I love all the fall colors, the warmth of the holiday and the idea of sitting down with the people I love and appreciating each other and the beauty that surrounds us.
This year I’ve been busy figuring out how I want my table to look and I’m feeling a California rustic-glam vibe with earthy colors and handmade-looking ceramics. Of course it isn’t practical to buy new dinnerware every year, so use what you have and let your centerpiece be the creative force. Here’s a great article written by Jaclyn Schatzow, one of my very best friends and blog contributor, about seasonal centerpieces. She gives lots of great ideas and inspiration on how to let your creativity shine through in your Thanksgiving table.
I’m not afraid to mix low and high items in my design work and my Thanksgiving table is no different. Above I’ve selected low, medium and high pieces in each category, any of which will look beautiful in combination. And most importantly, as I work on my own table and holiday prep, I remind myself that Thanksgiving is really about being surrounded by friends and family and being grateful for what you have.
Happy Thanksgiving!
