Every Spring as the days get longer, I get an overwhelming urge to clean house in prep for the warmer weather. This year, the purging is even more abundant as our own home renovation is about to get underway.
Cleaning house may just be my excuse to make space for a few new items that say warmer weather and more time outside to relax and entertain. With the clutter under control, I have a clearer head and I’m thinking about how to hit “refresh” on some of the things I’m keeping and how to spruce them up and make them feel new again.
Updating accessories like bedding, hard-working kitchen items, pretty vases or even a new pair of shoes is a great way to freshen up for Spring without a huge investment. I always love a pretty flower bouquet on my kitchen island and I try to hit the Farmer’s Market every Sunday to get the best blooms at unbeatable prices. Nothing says Spring like Lilacs and when you see them in all their beauty and abundance at the Farmer’s Market you can’t help but feel upbeat and optimistic. This clear glass Vase Cup (4) from March SF is the perfect easy container for any bouquet. I love the earthy simplicity of this Olive Wood Flatware Set (1), the clean lines of the Swedish Polished Brass Bottle Vase (3) and this quirky, cute Ceramic Colander (6) all from Kaufmann Mercantile. Hedgehouse’s Striped Cotton Throwbeds (2) are so inviting and colorful, they’re great for Spring or all year long in our Southern California climate. Finally, these simple and elegant Valia Gabriel Sandals (5) from Jenni Kayne will be the perfect addition to my Spring wardrobe.
