True, Valentine’s Day is a bit of a Hallmark holiday, but in my book it’s a great opportunity to go out of your way to make people feel a little extra special in ways that are different from every other day. At my daughter’s school we decorated Valentine’s cards to send to their pen-pal school, Para Los Ninos, a Spanish-speaking school in downtown Los Angeles. The kids are going to be so surprised when they receive their box of Valentine’s – I’m sure the lollypops will be a big hit too. But Valentine’s Day can be about more than sending cards; there are lots of kind gestures that spread the love like letting someone go in front of you in line at the grocery store, bringing someone breakfast in bed or simply giving a heartfelt compliment. As for me, I’m big on celebrating everything and Valentine’s Day is a great excuse to eat some chocolate, hang out with my special Valentines and surprise them with some fun gifts. Here are some of my ideas.
